Control Multiple Winamp Instances
RemoteAmp has the ability to control multiple instances of Winamp at once. This feature is useful if you have multiple sound cards in your system routed to different sets of speakers, as you can then have different music playing in the various "zones" throughout your house.
To enable this functionality you must first enable multiple instances from within Winamp. This option is listed under Winamp's "General Preferences" screen. Once this option is enabled, select the "Winamp" option page from the RemoteAmp Server screen. The resulting options view displays a list of all currently configured instances, initially only the default should exist. To create new entry, enter a name for the instance in the "New Instance Name" field and click on the "Add" button at which point RemoteAmp will automatically create a new Winamp instance for you. RemoteAmp will automatically save all preferences you select for this particular instance so you can configure Winamp's audio settings to use the appropriate sound card and they will be persisted the next time the instance is started.
To switch between active instances on your Pocket PC, just tap File->Change Instance... while connected to the RemoteAmp Server. You will be presented with a dialog box showing all instances currently configured on the server. Selecting one and tapping OK will switch the focus to that instance, starting it for you if it is not currently running. |
