Getting Video Files onto iPod
As you are probably aware, you cannot just copy MP3 and MP4 files to your iPod using the logical drive letter of the iPod under Windows.
Once you have downloaded and installed Apple iTunes you may start the procedure below to get your Video or Audio files onto your iPod.
If you have iTunes Integration enabled, then you may skip the section, where you copy the files from Windows Explorer into the iTunes Library as this will have already been done for you.
iTunes v6.x
1. Start Apple iTunes
After a few seconds, iTunes should automatically detect your iPod and show it on the left hand side under the Source list heading. In the example below, the iPod has been detected and it has a name of 'Video iPod'

2. Copying your iPod video files to your iPod using iTunes
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to where your iPod video files are located. Try to size the windows on your monitor so you can see both iTunes and Explorer open at the same time, like in the image below

This next part is very important. iTunes has two modes of operation.
1. Automatically Sync
In this mode, iTunes automatically syncronises your library held on your PC to your iPod each time iTunes is started. Many people don't like this mode, as they feel they are not in control.
To copy your MP4 video files or MP3 audio files to your iPod, highlight the files in Windows Explorer and drag and drop them either onto the Library option under the source window.
iTunes will now take over and automatically copy the video files to your iPod.
2. Manually Sync
In this mode, iTunes must be told by the user which audio/video files are to be copied to the iPod.
To copy your MP4 video files or MP3 audio files to your iPod in this mode, highlight your iPod Video files in Windows Explorer and drag and drop them either onto the Video iPod entry under the source window..
You may see a window indicating its processing the files

You should then see the main iTunes window start copying the files to your iPod, it easy to tell if this has started as the Apple logo at the top of of the iTunes window will report which file it is currently processing.

Once this has finished, Click the eject button next to the iPod in the Source list, disconnect your iPod, and you’re ready to listen to music or watch those videos!
iTunes v7.x and v8.x
