Backup
Backup, Backup, Backup is probably one of the earliest adages in the computer world. By selecting the Backup option from the Utility menu you will open the below screen. This utility allows you to backup to another drive on your computer, another drive on your network in another computer, to a memory stick, to a CD-r, CD-RW, DVD-R or DVD-RW. To backup your data select the lookup button to select the target drive. Note: Only select the drive to backup to, we will create all of the target directories on that drive for you. Once selected the program will loop through all of your files and check for their existence and age on the target drive. If your files have never been backed up before, we will create the target directories for you and you will see all of the files to be backed up. The files to the left of the screen (in purple) are your real program and data files. The files to the right of the list (in teal) are the files on your backup target drive.
Once you have performed the backup the first time all of the files are copied to your backup drive. On later backups you will only see the files that have changed and that need to be backed up. To display all of the files you can select the show all button on the lower part of the screen.
In the center of the list is a column of arrows. These arrows indicate which direction the files will be moved. By clicking on any of these arrows you will change the arrow from backup to equal to restore. To restore a file that was backed up earlier, click on the arrow for that file (or files) until the arrow points from the right to the left. Then select Restore from Backup to Program Directory. To backup your files to the target backup drive, select the Backup From Program to Backup Directory button. Any files that are marked as equal will be ignored by the backup utility.
Note 1: Performing a backup or restore will replace the files selected and overwrite them. Once done, this can not be reversed.
Note 2: To back up to removable media such as a CD-r etc. the CD or DVD must be formatted by your system to look like and work like a data drive or hard drive. Please check your documentation for your writable drive to find out how to do this. Due to the large number of drives on the market and a tremendous number of applications for creating CD's and DVD's we can not provide technical support for questions about your specific equipment or configuration.
