File Menu

Use the file menu for actions that is related to a graphic file. The menu contains the following entries:

  • New creates a new blank canvas.
  • Open locates and opens an existed graphic file.
  • Save saves the current opened image to the default file after modification.
  • Save As saves the current opened image to a different graphic format file.
  • Print outputs the current opened image to printer.
  • Quit closes Easy Graphic Converter
  • The File Menu does not contain [Print Preview]. It does not support printing preview at present. We would consider supporting later if possible.

New

To create a new blank canvas, click New from the File pull-down menu..

You may also press the [New] button from the toolbar or press the short key [CTRL+N] for creating a new blank canvas.

Open

To open an existing graphic file, select [Open] from the [File] pull-down menu. This activates the standard Open dialog box. Then select the file you want to open in the Open dialog box. Opening a file is just like opening a document in Write or a spreadsheet in Excel; the only difference is that you open an icon file instead of a document or spreadsheet. Use the combo box at the top to select the appropriate folder and click on the icon file in the list below. Press the Open button when you have made your selection.

See the section file type filters for details on the file type filters in the files of type combo box.

If successfully opened a new graphic file, it will load the image into the window for editing.

You may also press the [Open] button from the toolbar or press the short key [CTRL+O] for opening an existing image file.

Save

To save the current loaded image, select menu item Savefrom the [File] pull-down menu. This will save the current loaded image with its modification into the default file.

  • If the current image is a new created image with no default file name, it will activate the standard Save As dialog for selecting or entering a file name, choosing the appropriate file types.
  • Use the combo box at the top to select the appropriate folder and click on the image file in the list below. Press the Save button when you have made your selection.
  • See the section File Type Filters for details on the File Type filters in the Files of type combo box.
  • You may also press the [Save] button from the toolbar or press the short key [Ctrl+S] for saving the current image.
  • If the current loaded image is of format JPG, ICO or GIF, it would activate a dialog for settings before saving it.

Save As

To save the current loaded image as another file, select [Save As...] from the [File] pull-down menu. This will activate the SAVE AS dialog for locating or entering a file name for saving as. For formats like JPG, GIF, ICO, you should set the settings of the image before saving.

The file formats that was supported by saving including DIB, BMP, EMF, JPG, JPEG, GIF, ICO, PNG, TGA, WMF, WBMP, TIF, TIFF, TGA.

Click the above button for appropriate file name, file types.

Print

To print the current loaded image, select Print from the [File] pull-down menu. This menu item sends currently loaded image to default printer.

Quit

To quit Easy Graphic Converter, select Quit from the [File] pull-down menu. Please save the modifications before you quit the software.
