Digitize Data

You select one or several areas and start the Wizard of Digitization. On steps 1 and 2 you select mapping region, and set the scale by setting X left, X right, Y top and Y bottom values. On steps 3 and 4 graphs are handled automatically. On step 5 you can manually add single data points and remove mistakes.

Important: Only points inwardly selected areas will be digitized.

On a step 1 you need to select mapping region.

  • Use arrows to accurately define mapping region to digitize.
  • It is possible to rotate mapping region.

On a step 2 set new ranges of X and Y in mapping region you selected.

  • Set the axis name and physical units of measurement of parameter.
  • Select new ranges. Then you click <Next> button, the scales will be recalculated.
  • Linear or logarithmic axis are supported.
  • Use <Current> button to set the previous plot interval.

On a step 3 select parameters to digitize data automatically.

  • Select direction to follow curve to digitize automatically.
  • Select to exclude or not border, net lines, and poor (single) points from digitization.
  • Input digitization step.
  • Select fixed step to digitize with const step.
  • If one point on step is selected, only one curve of several parallel curves will be digitized.

On a step 4 select pixel colors to digitize data automatically.

  • First of all you need to add colors in list. To do it, move mouse cursor on the picture, select data point you want to digitize, and push key <C>. Then select colors 'checked' and click <Digitize> button.
  • Then you click <Next> button, the graphs will be processed.
  • Use <Digitize> button to preview.
  • Use 'cursor position zoom' to add colors accurately.

On a step 5 you can remove mistakes, and add single data points manually.

  • Move mouse cursor on the digitized point. To remove point push key <Delete>. To add point push key <Insert>.
  • Use 'cursor position zoom'.
  • Then you click <Remove All Points> button, all points added on step 4 (automatically) and 5 will be removed.
  • Then you click <Remove Points Added> button, only points added on step 5 (manually) will be removed.

On a step 6 data are prepared, a new series of points will be built.

  • Set a title of a series.
  • Assign a color, marker, radius (X) and aspect ratio (Y/X) for new points series.
  • Use <Add Series> button to create new series of points.
  • Use <Picture> button to Show/Hide background picture.
