How to use Custom file tags?
It may be useful to include custom file tags in destination address of processed files in address template in many cases. For example, if names of your files are formatted in some special way, their names include some useful information and you want to use it in files destination addresses.
For example, we have a file "CD87 - Track 14 - Bon Jovi - It's My Life.mp3". It have name:
CD87 - Track 14 - Bon Jovi - It's My Life
File name - is one of standard tags. In the example above file name include 8 words:
- Word #1 - CD87
- Word #2 - Track
- Word #3 - 14
- Word #4 - Bon
- Word #5 - Jovi
- Word #6 - It's
- Word #7 - My
- Word #8 - Life
And file name in example above file name include 4 parts. Those parts are separated by hyphens:
- Phrase #1 - CD87
- Phrase #2 - 14
- Phrase #3 - Bon Jovi
- Phrase #4 - It's My Life
What if we have a large number of music files, named in the such way (with number of CD in the first part) and want them to be moved in folders, named by CD numbers?
To sort music in such way we may configure media sorted to move sorted music to folders, named by music file name first path (it will be, for example, CD21, CD22, CD34, etc.)
We create for such music a file moving rule, according to which sorted music will be moved to folder, named by first part of music file name. In address template editor it will look as shown on the picture below:

Custom file tag
Then will be opened Custom File Tag Editor window:

Custom File Tag Editor
In this window you may edit all parts of custom file tag:
- What is number of symbol, from which data from specified standard file tag should be copied;
- What is number of symbol, up to which data from specified standard file tag should be copied;
- Symbols of word or part with which number should be copied from specified standard tag;
- What should be included in custom tag - some word of specified standard tag, or some phrase inside of it. Words are separated by spaces, parts - by hyphens. For example, file with name " CD87 - Track 14 - Bon Jovi - It's My Life" have 8 words, but only 4 parts ("CD87", "Track 14", "Bon Jovi", "It's My Life").
- Symbols from which standard file tag should be included in edited custom file tag.
