Open Desktop Application
This section will explain how to use Microsoft Windows desktop of BlackBerry Database Viewer by discussing one example. Suppose you have one Mircosoft Access database named: NWIND.mdb having tables named Employee, Customers, and Products in it. You wanted to view the contents of these databases on BlackBerry. Let's see how can it be done?
Please follow the steps as given below:
Installing software on Microsoft Windows based Computer and BlackBerry:
- To install the desktop side application on your Windows based computer, run the DBViewer.exe setup program. It will ask you where to install application on your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation script.
- When the installation script completes, start Blackberry Desktop Manager and double-click on Application Loader icon. BlackBery DatabaseViewer line will appear in the list of programs to be installed on the device. If this line contains an unchecked box next to the program name, check this box to make sure the application is installed properly. Click "Next" and follow the prompts of the Application Loader to complete BlackBery DatabaseViewer installation.
Note: Some versions of Application Loader do not detect new software automatically. If after completing the installation, you do not see line for BlackBerry Database Viewer in the list of applications, add the application files manually. The files are located either in the directory where BlackBerry Database Viewer desktop application is installed by the installation script or in "\Program Files\Research In Motion\Blackberry\Loader Files". For Blackberry Desktop version 3.5 and above, select "dbviewer.alx" file.
